A total of 11 .000 spiders be longing to 351 species and 30 families were collected in the area of the Danubian Plain between 1973 and 1991. The most numerous in species was the family Linyphiidae (97 species). From the faunistic aspect the most important finds were the species Hylyphantes nigritusLessertia dentichelis, Tibellus vittatus, and Europhrys lanigera, which are new to the fauna of Slovakia.
