Obsah
The described parasocial behaviour of Larinioides sclopetarius consists in sharing the frame threads of the webs or “web-carpets”, increased tolerance and hunting without orb-webs. This phenomenon appears as a result of an oversupply of prey. According to my observation, the orb-webs on the upper side of bridges are damaged by the wind during the day, so the spiders hunt prey mainly at night. In contrast, under the bridge, the orb-weavers are active during whole day. I have noticed that juveniles of Larinioides sclopetarius, Larinioides ixobolus, Nuctenea umbratica and Nuctenea silvicultrix are able to steal small insects from the webs of larger individuals.
